Battle of the Oranges, Ivrea, Italy

The Battle of Oranges is a festival held annually in the town of Ivrea in the Piedmont region of northern Italy. This colorful and vibrant festival attracts thousands of participants and spectators from all over the world.
The battle is inspired by a legend that tells that a young woman defended herself from the unwanted advances of a nobleman, and killed him, becoming a symbol of liberation and resistance.
During the festival, the streets of Ivrea turn into makeshift battlegrounds, where teams of people dressed in historical costumes face off in a war of oranges. The participants are divided into different groups: the revolutionaries and the tyrant's troops. The objective is to throw oranges at each other.
The "weapons" used are oranges, which symbolize the stones thrown by the rebels against the tyrant's forces. Oranges are chosen because, according to tradition, they represent freedom and justice.
In addition to the battle itself, the festival also includes parades, music, dances and a range of cultural events.
This festival starts on 2nd of March and ends on 4th of March.
