According to Oxford Languages, to be on cloud nine means to be extremely happy. It's a feeling of perfect happiness and well-being.

But where did the idiom cloud nine come from?

Cumulonimbus, the largest cloud in the world, was designated Cloud 9 in September 1896, in a new cloud classification, making being on cloud nine the same as floating on the Earth's tallest cloud.                                                                                                      Ana Batista, 11º G
