escola sede: "Take a Minute, Take Five"

No âmbito do projeto "Take a Minute, Take Five", publicamos uma reflexão sobre o impacto do uso do telemóvel nos adolescentes, da autoria de Shayaan Sheik, 8ºJ, na subcategoria "Speak up your Mind".

Teenager's Phone Usage.

Mobile phones have become an essential part of teenager's daily lives, changing how they communicate, learn, and entertain themselves. On the positive side, smartphones allow teens to stay connected with friends and family through calls, messages, and social media. They provide instant access to educational tools, online courses, and helpful apps that support learning and personal development. Phones also give teens a way to express their creativity by making videos, taking photos, or designing digital content. Safety features like GPS tracking and emergency contacts make parents feel more at ease knowing their children can reach out if needed.

However, there are also several disadvantages to phone use among teenagers. Excessive screen time can lead to phone addiction, poor sleeping habits, and reduced attention spans. Constant notifications and social media updates can make it hard to focus on schoolwork and responsibilities. Mental health may also be affected, as teens may feel pressured to compare themselves to others or become victims of online bullying. Moreover, spending too much time on the phone often replaces physical activity, which can impact overall health.

While smartphones offer many advantages, it’s important for teens to find a healthy balance between screen time and real-life activities and use their devices wisely and responsibly.
