textos de alunos: "Take a minute, take five!"

Mais um texto, desta vez sobre algumas curiosidades da língua inglesa, sugestão de Alícia Tajudine, 11ºH, na subcategoria "Did you know? Now you know".

                                                               CURIOSITIES ABOUT THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

I was doing some research about the English language and I found some information/curiosities I would like to share with you.

1. English originates from Northwest Germany and the Netherlands.

2. English is spoken by 952 million people around the world.
(this fact shows us the need to speak English for multiples reasons and advantages)

3. The most used adjective in the English language is ‘good’.

4. English is the language of the sky.
(All pilots must identify themselves in English during international flights. Likewise, all air traffic controllers at international airports must be able to communicate with the pilots in English)

5. William Shakespeare had a great influence on the English language.
(William Shakespeare was an English poet, playwright, and actor. Above all, he introduced
thousands of words and phrases into the English language.)

6. About 4.000 words are added to the dictionary each year.

These are the ones I found most interesting, I hope you have enjoyed them all and I expect that they have encouraged you to study this wonderful language.

Thank you :)
