 Drive a wedge between someone

Idiom – To cause disagreement, hostility or anger between people who are close or had been friendly before. Someone tries to drive a wedge between people to damage or weaken their relationship.

 Other examples in context:

 I started to feel Toby was driving a wedge between me and my girlfriend, Julie.

It doesn’t make sense to let things that happened in the past drive a wedge between us now.
